I have been designing visual communication experiences for over 24 years, in combination with designing research and moderating qualitative focus groups for nearly 10 years around the world. I had been on an exhilarating quest to bring these two domains of my career together — along with a healthy dose of continual self-examination and personal stretching of skills and abilities, when I realized that the portions of my career that I enjoyed the most involved creating and participating in projects related to learning. This realization led to a decision to pursue Instructional Design with an Adult Learning focus, while getting a master's degree at the University of Colorado Denver in Information Learning Technologies.
My client and project exposure is extensive and ranges across a wide spectrum of industries, including (but not limited to) automotive, consumer packaged goods, real estate, food and beverage, financial services, hospitality and healthcare.
Over my many years of creating visuals, I’ve concluded that many people can create something that is “cool” or “beautiful,” but if it isn’t rooted in a strong business strategy and brand rationale for doing so, it is not likely to be effective or resonate with the target audience. I believe this holds true in designing learning content and tools as well, meaning that the entire learning experience should be rooted in thorough analysis and strong objectives.
I am excited to continue creating, implementing and facilitating meaningful, diverse and engaging learning experiences as I augment my career to include Instructional Design.
