Project: Create an eLearning Course.

eLearning Course Title: History of the Ski Industry 

Description: I was tasked to come up with a concept and content for an eLearning course, then create it in Adobe Captivate. The final project is 17 screens and sample screen shots are shown to the right. This was the first time I've ever used Adobe Captivate.

Internship: Charles Schwab Internship Academy

Description: Over the summer of 2018, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Charles Schwab Intern Academy at the Charles Schwab campus in Lone Tree, CO. For nine weeks, I worked under the Human Resources umbrella within Talent & Organizational Development, where my role was “instructional design intern” within the team that creates business learning, specifically regulatory and compliance training and across other HR functions. This extremely thorough and hands-on experience proved to be invaluable to my growth in the instructional design field.

Client: National Sports Center for the Disabled NSCD

Project: Learner Personas for the Volunteer Ski Instructor Training Program 

Description: I co-created this project along with Peter Sherman to analyze existing training needs and identify new tools and processes for future volunteer ski instructor training for NSCD. Personas were created for both the ski instructors and the ski instructor trainers.

Project: Digital Book - NSCD Volunteer Instructor's Guide to Teaching Adaptive Sports

Description: This digital book was created to aid NSCD Volunteer Ski Instructors in Safety, On-mountain Procedures and Program Procedures in a way that would be accessible via computer and mobile devices, 24/7. This is one of a series of books that will be created for the NSCD. The layout is responsive and it was created in Pages and is exported as an ePub file.

Examples of how the book appears on mobile vs. computer are shown to the right.

Project: Video - How Leadville Saved Itself

Description: Project requirements were to tell a story using a minimum of 4 differing mediums. I have a soft spot for the small Colorado mountain towns and their stories. Here, I tell a story of Leadville, CO, a town that almost didn't make it back in the 80s when the Climax Mine shut down. But then a cool guy named Ken came in and saved the day. Watch and see how. Adobe Creative Suite, various audio/sound effect resources, GarageBand and iMovie were used to create this project.

Project: Podcast - 10 Ways to Occupy Yourself Other than Your Phone

Description: This podcast challenges listeners to put their phone away for 6 hours and offers 10 ways that they may occupy themselves otherwise. The project was recorded and edited in GarageBand and is housed in SoundCloud.

Project: Infographic - A Visitors Guide to Hiking Camelback Mountain

Description: The primary goal in this infographic is to educate out-of-town visitors to Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ, who are unfamiliar with Camelback Mountain and the dangers this extremely difficult hike may present and prepare them for a fun and safe hiking experience. The infographic will aid in the reduction of rescues performed on the mountain and will serve as a tool for hotel concierge and other resort staff to use in guiding guests at resorts in the surrounding area. This was created in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. All illustrations are original.

Project: Video - Integrating Dogs Into Homes with Resident Cats: As Explained by Dogs

Description: The task here was to create Instruction with a Twist. This twist in this video was using talking dogs to teach the content.  An app called My Talking Pet was used in combination with the Adobe Creative Suite for graphics and finally, it was all edited in iMovie.

Description: This video teaches "How to Train Your Pup to SUP in 3 easy steps" Footage was shot on iPhone and edited in iMovie and GarageBand. Graphics were created in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Project: Pecha Kucha Presentation - Using Visual Cues to Select Project Images

Description: This Pecha Kucha presentation is made up of 20 slides lasting 20 seconds each. It demonstrates how visual cues can be utilized to trigger and/or manage perceptions. It explains how using visual cues effectively will help learners create more impactful and memorable projects and presentations in business settings. Software from the Adobe Creative Suite and GarageBand was used and it was all edited together in iMovie.

Project - Networked Learning Space: Becoming Coloradan - Colorado Newbies Survival Network 

Description: Inspired by personal experience, this networked learning space was created as a Facebook Group. This is an effort to help people that are new to Denver, get acclimated and adjusted as quickly as possible and create a community where people can make commentary and post content relevant to the group.

Project: Leadership Ascent Training Materials

Description: I worked with the Talent Development Department to lock in a consistent look and feel for training materials for four Leadership Ascent classes that are taught at Vail Resorts. Sample pages from the Champion Change class are shown to the right and downloads of the full pdf are available below. Projects with VR are ongoing.

Materials included: Participant Guides, Worksheets, Self-Assessments, Case Studies, Models and Power Point

Project: Leadership Roadmap

Description: I worked with the AAA Arizona HR team to develop graphics to support a new employee leadership program. Leadership goals were identified and materials (posters, web banners etc.) were created to keep goals accessible and easy to reference. (web graphic shown here)


Project: Exploration of resources in which to infuse creativity into business culture.

Description: This was a collaborative effort between myself and two peers to explore resources in which to infuse creativity into online business culture. We explored apps, webinars and the use of creative content. The final project was created in Google Sites.

Client: ECHO Colorado

ECHO helps solve local real world medical and public health issues in under served communities.
They do this by using distance meeting and interaction technology to facilitate educational interventions and coaching. Using this technology, none of the attendees, nor the ECHO representatives, need be in the same location. 

Project: Create a process from which a consistently high quality ECHO presentation is developed by all participating SMEs. I co-created this project  with Peter Sherman.

Objectives:

1. Design and develop a structured and ECHO-branded PowerPoint format that incorporates documented best
practices of how to use PowerPoint. 

2. Provide each ECHO SME development tools via a best practices guidelines to online public speaking.

3. Provide expectations and guidance to each SME early in the development process.

Client: Colorado Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence

Project: Applied Outbreak Investigation Training Materials and Recommendations. I partnered on this project  with Peter Sherman.

Description: The original request was to clean up, create and apply a consistent branded look on the PowerPoint deck used in training. Upon the realization that the deck was 234 slides, the COE allowed us to analyze and provide recommendations for how they could change and proceed in future workshops.
